About the Series
The “Main Street Janes” series has some unique features, setting it apart from your average, ordinary, everyday mystery series.
Firstly, it’s a “cozy,” a genre (ala Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple and Murder, She Wrote‘s Jessica Fletcher) which has gained widespread popularity in wake of the pandemic—everybody needs a little happy right now, after all. AND it’s just so therapeutic to bump people off! Cozy mysteries generally take place in small towns filled with mostly-likeable characters to which the reader will connect, the language is rated PG, and the murders are non-graphic and involve characters we either don’t care about, or they “had it coming.”
Secondly, it’s a history-mystery series. Each book in the series will take place in the year 2000 with an unsolved mystery from the past, and that mystery will be revealed in an item that is discovered at the antique mall owned by our narrator. Each chapter in the book and, indeed, the book itself will be entitled with a song from the year of the history-mystery; in Book #1 that year is 1935. As an extra bonus, soundtracks of songs from each book will be available on this website, recorded by the author’s musical trio “Thistle Dew.”
And Lastly, each book will contain an appendix of the historical elements in the book, with well-researched data on that element. For example, a bobby pin is used to open locks in When I Grow Too Old to Dream, and the appendix (which is also on this website) tells you everything you always wanted to know about bobby pins. Enjoy!
